I love wool. I love the feel of it, I love the look of it, I like
how it keeps you warm, fingers to toes. And sometimes when I' m
feeling completely loopy the picture of a storybook lamb comes in
my head and I love the image and cherish those memories from my
childhood.
But I am not a knitter really, Jonathan is.
I knit, but I knit for fun and comfort and relaxation. Jonathan
knits because like all real knitters, he can't help himself. I knit
squares, period. Jonathan knits sweaters and jackets and coats and
things that stop the breath and catch in the throat and amaze and
delight with his brilliant sense of color and shape and texture
and design. My squares are predictable. I make rectangles and oblongs,
long and short. When I am finished I patch them into anything that
doesn't require a perfect shape and let it go at that. But I make
no apologies. I am happy.
Jonathan and I decided to try a business together one day nearly
a year ago and before I knew it I became a rummager. Jonathan and
I had made some knitting bags for ourselves because like all fashionistas
we wanted something special to house our work in. Jonathan says
if you are spending all this money on wool and needles and books,
you have a right to have something wonderful to carry them in. Jonathan
says a beautiful bag is 'guiltfree, don't stress'. So we made these
bags and people started wanting them. That's where the rummaging
part comes in.
Wool feels good, so does fabric and I like to feel both. I spend
most of the day, everyday rummaging through places where fabric
is stored. Jonathan and I travel around the world searching for
the most luxurious fabrics we can find. I have good feel and I know
good color so together we design and fabricate our wares. Here are
photos of some of our collaborations.

JONATHAN
Coming from New York my life has always been on the go. Two things
came into my life that helped me take control over the madness of
the city. Yoga and knitting have been instrumental in helping me
find peace and tranquility in an environment that is so fast-paced.

Knitting for me has always been an outlet. I only know how to purl,
I don't know how to read a pattern and I definitely don't count
stitches! But I love the process of creating something that's wearable,
organic and is the end result of my artistic endeavor.
Sometimes I don't know where things are going but then as the project
continues, the piece takes shape and makes itself known. There are
no mistakes in knitting. By being non-judgemental I'm free to have
fun with my craft and in some silly way, I hope I inspire those
very tight knitters to LOOSEN UP!"
